From Russia with loveliness, Anastasia Dobromyslova doesn't always beat the regulars at her local pub in Ellesmere Port.

But on Saturday, the only girl on the PDC circuit must try to find a way to upset 14-time world champion Phil 'The Power' Taylor in the Grand Slam at Wolverhampton.

To the strains of her walkon music, Sugababes anthem Here Come the Girls, Dobromyslova will take to the stage in a fitted pink top she designed herself, confident that any wolf whistles in the crowd won't be for Taylor.

The rivals met for an exhibition in Gillingham, with Dobromyslova greeting Taylor as "Uncle Phil" and him calling her "Auntie Lil". Perestroika is alive and well on the oche.

Taylor, who has sprouted a moustache in support of exfootballer John Hartson's cancer awareness initiative, has promised to show her no mercy or go easy on the fairer sex after they were drawn with Mark Webster in the group stage at the Grand Slam.

And in return, Dobromyslova - a baker's daughter from Tver, two hours north of Moscow - expects no charity.

She said: "If there have been any sexist comments among the players, they have not been made to my face. I have not given it much thought. If people haven't got anything better to do, they must have empty lives.

"Why is there any shame in losing to a woman at darts? If I beat a man and he can't cope with it, that's his problem. But most of the guys have been very supportive and friendly."

Although Dobromyslova, 25, has the trappings of a sporting pin-up, a word of warning to the amorous: She's taken. After meeting Englishman Tony Martin, a player on the BDO circuit, at a Holland tournament, the couple married 13 months ago.

But that did not prevent massive support for her when she accepted a last-minute wild card to join the PDC.

Dobromyslova intended to defend her 2008 BDO women's world championship, where she ended Trina Gulliver's run of seven successive titles, until a qualifier's late withdrawal for the PDC showpiece at Alexandra Palace opened the door to a major career switch.

After making a decision to abdicate her BDO crown overnight, Dutchman Remco van Eijden thwarted Dobromyslova's partisan backing in the preliminary round at Ally Pally and, after a valiant performance, she lost 5-3.

"The support was incredible," she said. "I would love to go back this year and win a couple of rounds - if I qualify."

Taylor, who has won all but two tournaments, said: "Anastasia's not a bimbo or window dressing. But as a rose among thorns, it's not easy for her. Anastasia is perhaps even vulnerable because the lads aren't in awe of her and they aren't frightened of beating her."

Anastasia Dobromyslova was speaking as ambassador for pool and snooker operators Rileys, who are opening darts zones at 128 clubs nationwide.
